I'm Paul Gravette. I think the next few years are the most exciting stretch of my life, and I want company for it.
AI is growing faster than anything we've seen, and there's a real race for the frontier. It feels a lot like 1996 when the internet took off, only faster. The people building it are mostly in their twenties and thirties, and they're moving with an urgency I recognize.
I got ready for 1996 early. At 10, 11 and 12 I was cutting yards. In my teens I saved what I could, because cars got me out the door every morning. In my late teens I started a list of names, a Rolodex, and I followed up with every one of them. As I said on School of Hard Knocks, "Your Rolodex is your Rolex." When the internet arrived, I wasn't starting from zero. The list had been waiting for it.
That's how I make decisions: slow and steady. I take chances, but I do the homework first. I read the fine print, I ask the uncomfortable questions, I stay frugal, and I walk away more often than people expect. Then, once I decide, I'm a workhorse. I work very hard and sleep very little, because the decision was the slow part.

My Story
Paul Gravette is a builder, investor and operator who has spent more than 20 years helping Internet-first companies grow, from small startups to multibillion-dollar enterprises.
His playbook is simple: build a brand people trust, market with ideas that are new, connect the right systems and partners, and set up distribution that keeps working long after launch. Over the years it has helped turn half a dozen early-stage companies into thriving businesses.
It began early. At 26, Paul reached the goal he had written down years before: becoming a self-made millionaire. He did it by buying blocks of cellphone time and selling them to consumers as prepaid minutes, at the very start of the prepaid wireless era. "People, especially salespeople, needed a way to pay for calls. I filled that need."
That first win taught him to look for the need first. He has kept doing that, reviewing opportunities constantly, doing the homework before he commits, then moving with full force once he decides.
Today he runs Gravette Capital and shares what he's learning about AI and the frontier in public.
